The thing is well-made and has worked flawlessly for us (about a month). Lights instantly always, runs clean, and really puts out some warmth. Not seeing any of the difficulties mentioned in other opinions. This is the larger model, and we usually use the medium output rate to heat a leaky 600' garage on 49-degree nights. It can eat a pair of propane canisters in a couple of nights, D batteries last longer for the fan. But the way to go for us has been a 5-gallon propane tank and the plug-in AC adapter to run the little fan. Makes it way cheaper and more practical. The 5 gals lasts about two weeks. You can't really adapt to the fittings in the unit yourself, so buy the tank adapter/regulator, and the AC adapter with the unit.Customer Review: My new Big Buddy freezes up consistently

There are known problems with this heater freezing up. The valve, that is shared between the two inlets, will freeze and the heater will shut off during operation.
I've tried this several times, and several ways, one tank or two. This is not as reliable as the Mr Heater single burner.
I've used Mr. Heater products for years, this is the first lemon I've bought from this american company. Come on guys, test your stuff more thoroughly. We buy these heaters as emergency backups... it's cold in Virginia in the winter, and I need my stuff to work!
I'm going to sell mine (or just dump it, I can't see giving this to someone who would find that it doesent work when they need it).

Great heater so far! We used it to heat our 20ft RV trailer, had it on the "Lo" setting and it lasted about 8 hours on (2) 1 pound propane bottles. It's awesome that you can purchase the attachment and hook it up to a larger propane bottle which is what we plan on doing so the heat will last longer. But anyways, when the desert was about 30 degrees and windy outside, it kept our trailer at a nice 70 degrees on the LO setting. Too bad it doesn't have a thermostat so you can't adjust the temperature. Our friend has the regular Buddy (not the Big Buddy) and it heated his 18 ft RV trailer on LO and he got up in the middle of the night to turn it off since it was getting too warm.
Great product. Would recommend!

Since I tent-camp year-round I needed a safer way to provide heat in my tent in cold weather. I had been using one of those tank-mounted radiant propane heaters, which did the job but it took up a lot of room and was very dangerous.
I had an occasion to try the Mr Heater single burner heater and liked it but I opted for the Big Buddy because I have a 10x10 tent and when it is 20° or less outside you need more heat than the single burner provides.
I am very happy with the Big Buddy and the three heat settings, fan and two propane canister receptacles. The only con I have is that they make you pay extra to get the power adapter to run the fan instead of using 4 "D" batteries.

I bought a Mr Big buddy heater from Amazon.com and what a great deal and what a great company to deal with. It was already the best price around and than they lowered it some more. I sent an E mail to them and they honored the new price. The response was the same day and you don't find customer service like that these days. The Heater works great, I have been in a ice fish flip over house in -20 degree weather and this heater works great. I told alot of my fishing friends about the great deal on Amazon.com and I am sure they bought some as well. Thanks for your great deals and customer service and giving a great price on a great product
